Helmbeam vs Stock Rover: which fits the way you research stocks?
Stock Rover fits detailed screening and portfolio analysis. Helmbeam fits a company-focused discovery and reassessment workflow.
Both can help identify companies and examine fundamentals. We make Helmbeam. This comparison uses Stock Rover's public features, plans and help pages checked on 19 September 2026, not our own testing of its paid tiers.

Stock Rover combines company research with portfolio work
Stock Rover documents screening, financial history, charts, research reports and portfolio-analysis tools, focused on North American securities. It is relevant when you want to compare candidates systematically and also understand holdings or portfolio exposures.
A research shortlist contains companies you may want to investigate. A portfolio tool may calculate values, allocations or other measures from your holdings. You may need both kinds of record, even when they contain the same tickers.
If your main problem is analysing an existing portfolio or building detailed custom screens, assess Stock Rover's specific functions first. Confirm coverage, data definitions and any broker or import compatibility you require rather than assuming a general feature description covers your account.
Helmbeam starts with the company you want to understand
In Helmbeam, Discover can introduce a candidate, or you can search a ticker that caught your attention elsewhere. Open the company view and Numbers, then follow names that deserve another look.
This is useful when your question is “What is happening inside this company, and what should I revisit?” The five-lens explanation connects price, business, shareholders, earnings and resilience without reducing the task to one ratio.
Helmbeam can handle part of your discovery and company-monitoring routine. You can follow companies while researching them, whether or not you own shares. If you also need Stock Rover's portfolio calculations, reports or exports, check those requirements separately before switching.
Separate the shortlist task from the holdings task
Suppose you are researching ten companies and own shares in two. A discovery list helps you keep track of the candidates. A holdings analysis shows how much money you have exposed to each of the two positions.
You can follow all ten in Helmbeam while keeping the two holdings in your portfolio records. A new filing may deserve a closer read even when you have left a position unchanged.
If you need to assess concentration, use actual position values and the relevant portfolio total. Do not infer them from a follow list. Our holding versus buying more guide explains why an additional investment is a different decision from continuing to own an existing one.
Check the plan that contains your required functions
Stock Rover's public plans listed Premium at US$34 monthly or US$348 annually, Premium Plus at US$70 or US$588, Ultimate at US$99 or US$948, and Ultimate Pro at US$199 or US$1,788 when checked. Compare each tier's capabilities and allowances with the functions you need.
The provider documents a fourteen-day no-card trial that reverts to Free. Its FAQ also lists trial restrictions, including CSV export. Do not assume testing the trial establishes every paid-tier entitlement. Third-party reviews can retain older plan names or prices; the Stock Rover review explains an example found during this research.
Helmbeam's access also depends on the plan. Test the company workflow in the access available to you and confirm the current offer before subscribing.
Choose based on a task you can complete
For a detailed screening or portfolio need, write down the required metric, universe, history and output. For a company-research need, choose a financial change and see whether the app helps you examine it and return later.
You can use both products, but there is no requirement to do so. Keep a second subscription only if it performs a distinct job you actually value. Neither a high feature count nor a product state establishes investment suitability.

4 referencesFrequently asked questions
Is a Helmbeam follow list the same as a Stock Rover portfolio?
No. Following a company can mean you want to research it later, without owning it. Portfolio analysis should use actual holdings and their relevant values, not infer ownership from a research list.
Which product should I examine for detailed portfolio analysis?
Stock Rover documents portfolio-analysis capabilities alongside screening and research. Confirm the exact calculations, coverage and tier you need. Helmbeam's discovery and company-reassessment workflow serves the research-shortlist part of that work.
Does Stock Rover's trial include every paid feature?
No. The provider documents restrictions, including CSV export. Check the trial and intended paid tier separately before assuming a successful trial task proves all subscription entitlements.
