Helmbeam vs Finviz: which fits the way you research stocks?
Finviz fits custom filtering and market scanning. With Helmbeam, our stock-research app, you can find a company, examine its reported information and return as the evidence changes.
Both can help you find ideas. The choice depends on whether you want to specify the conditions yourself or begin with a company and investigate what is changing. We make Helmbeam. Finviz features and prices below come from its public documentation checked on 19 September 2026, not paid-tier testing.
Updated
Start with Finviz when you know your filters
Finviz offers a US-stock screener alongside charts, maps, news and company information. You can narrow the universe by conditions such as growth, profitability or valuation, then inspect the matches.
That is useful when the research question begins with “Which companies meet these conditions?” Save the filter definitions and periods. Positive profit, for example, does not mean profit is improving; revenue growth can include acquisitions or an unusually weak comparison period.
Finviz also provides company data after screening. Use it to investigate why a company matched your filters and what you still need to check in its reports.
Start with Helmbeam when you want to examine and revisit
You can search a company someone mentioned or use Discover to encounter a candidate. Open the company view and Numbers to examine revenue, earnings, cash flow and financial position. Follow it if there is a reason to return.
Our five-lens guide explains how to examine business progress, earnings, financial resilience, shareholder effects and price context together. Every stock is a research opportunity; active setups are the subset whose current structure qualifies.
Try our app for the discovery and repeat-checking part of your routine. If you need a particular custom screen or export, verify that capability separately instead of assuming the two products are interchangeable feature for feature.
Compare a real research task
Suppose a stock is widely discussed after a product launch. In Finviz, you could inspect its financial metrics and compare it with companies meeting your chosen filters. In Helmbeam, you could open its company view, examine Numbers and keep it for a later review.
In either case, the product announcement and filing should answer the material business claims. Neither tool can infer undisclosed repeat orders or prove why the price moved. The useful result is a question you can investigate, such as whether new sales are producing cash.
| Need | Finviz's documented fit | Helmbeam's fit |
|---|---|---|
| Apply your own stock filters | Core screener workflow | Check whether Discover's framework suits the job instead |
| Scan market patterns | Maps, charts and market views | Company-focused research and follow-up |
| Inspect a company | Company data and news | Company view and Numbers |
| Return to interesting names | Saved and alert functions depend on tier | Follow companies and revisit their developing information |
Compare access before comparing price
Finviz has a continuing free service and paid Elite. At the check date, Elite was US$39.50 monthly or US$299.50 annually. Its card-required trial renews unless cancelled under its terms. Paid functions include exports, alerts and real-time capabilities; confirm the exact function you need.
We provide free access and Pro features in Helmbeam. Check your current in-app offer and entitlements rather than assuming a trial feature remains permanently free. A lower subscription cost would not compensate for a missing function that your workflow requires.
The broader Finviz alternatives guide covers other replacement needs. You do not need two subscriptions if one tool already completes your task satisfactorily.

Is Helmbeam a Finviz replacement?
You can use our app for company discovery and follow-up. Check any Finviz custom filters, market maps or export functions you rely on separately; do not assume we reproduce them.
Can Finviz help discover companies?
Yes. Its screener can surface companies that meet selected conditions. Investigate why they matched and what the filters did not examine before drawing an investment conclusion.
Do I need Finviz Elite to begin screening?
No. Finviz offers continuing free screening. Elite provides additional functions and access, so assess it against the particular limit you encounter.
