Finviz alternatives for stock screening and company research

The right Finviz alternative depends on what you want to change: geographic coverage, financial depth, portfolio analysis or the way you discover companies. Replacing a screener with a research app can make sense, but only if it still completes your main task.

We checked public product documentation on 19 September 2026. These are documented-feature comparisons, not paid-account tests. Helmbeam is our product.

First identify what Finviz already does

Finviz combines US-listed stock screening, charts, market maps, news and company information. Its Elite service adds features including real-time quotes, exports and alerts. It is not just a price chart, and it can help discover unfamiliar companies.

Write down the reason you want an alternative. “I need company financials for a European listing” is actionable. “I want better stocks” does not specify a software requirement. No product can promise to turn its matches into profitable investments.

TIKR for international financial research

TIKR is a candidate when company statements, valuation comparisons and international coverage are central. It also has screening, so you do not have to abandon finding ideas to gain financial detail. Global access and history depend on the plan; its free offering is US-focused.

What to test: find one overseas listing, compare its reporting currency and review the financial periods you need. Check exact history allowances rather than relying on a maximum-years headline. Our TIKR review records pricing and conflicting limits that need clarification.

Stock Rover for screening plus portfolio analysis

Stock Rover is relevant when your screen is followed by questions about portfolio concentration, comparisons and monitoring. It remains focused on North American company research, so it is not the obvious answer to a need for broader exchange coverage.

What to test: recreate an existing screen, inspect the definitions and then analyse a small holdings list. Check the tier required for custom features and reports. A trial can help, but its export and report restrictions matter. See Finviz versus Stock Rover for that specific trade-off.

Simply Wall St for visual company reports

Simply Wall St offers visual reports, ideas, screening and portfolio tools with global coverage. It may suit someone who wants a more guided company overview after discovering a name.

The cost is not just monetary: you are adopting the report's structure and models. Inspect how a valuation or financial-health summary is produced. Free access has report and screener-result limits, so evaluate with a deliberate shortlist rather than browsing until the allowance runs out.

Helmbeam for a research shortlist you revisit

Helmbeam supports discovering companies, opening a company view, examining Numbers and following names for later research. It can be an alternative when your main need is deciding what deserves attention and returning as the evidence develops.

Do not choose it on the assumption that it reproduces every Finviz filter, market map or export. Those are separate requirements. Try one company in Helmbeam, identify something you want to investigate and decide whether the return-visit workflow fits you.

Keep Finviz if the missing feature is small

You may not need to replace it. Suppose a screen produces three businesses and your remaining question concerns a debt maturity. The issuer's annual report may supply the missing information for free. Buying another broad research subscription would not necessarily answer that question more accurately.

Before switching, save your filters, definitions and research notes in a form you control. Run the same example in the new product and explain any difference in results. Dates, currencies, treatment of negative values and security coverage can all change a screen's output.

3 questions
Which alternative is more relevant for international company financials?

TIKR's paid global coverage and Simply Wall St's global reports are worth examining. Verify the exact security and required data rather than assuming all listings receive equal detail.

Is Stock Rover a free replacement for the Finviz screener?

Do not assume so. Stock Rover's advanced screening is associated with paid plans. A temporary trial and an ongoing free screener are different offers.

Can two screeners show different results for the same filters?

Yes. Coverage, update times, metric definitions and handling of missing or negative values can differ. Compare the underlying figures before deciding one result is wrong.

Compare a real research task

If finding and revisiting companies is the task you need, include Helmbeam in your comparison. Open a familiar business, inspect Numbers and follow it only if you want to return. If precise filter control is essential, keep that requirement explicit when comparing products.
