Your first company in Helmbeam: from Discover to Numbers and a return visit

Start with one company in Helmbeam, inspect its business numbers and leave with a question you can investigate. You can search for a familiar ticker or browse Discover. You do not need to decide whether to buy during that first session.

Feature access depends on your plan and the data available for the company. Keep the issuer's latest report nearby when a number needs verification or explanation.

Choose a company you can identify

If a name is already on your mind, search for it and confirm the ticker and company. Familiar brands can belong to larger groups, and similarly named securities can refer to different businesses.

If you do not have a ticker, open Discover and choose a company that makes you curious. Its presence is a starting point for research, not a personalised recommendation. Begin by finding out what customers pay it to do.

Pause before interpreting the chart

The price may already have moved. That can make the decision feel urgent, but it does not tell you what changed in the business. Open the company view with the aim of understanding, not catching up with someone else's earlier entry.

Ask a simple first question: what would I need to know to take this company seriously? If you are unsure, begin with revenue, profitability, cash and funding. The fundamentals guide explains each in plain language.

Open Numbers and match the periods

Inspect the available quarterly and trailing-twelve-month information. Read the period labels before comparing values. A seasonal quarter can look weak beside a holiday quarter while improving against the same quarter a year earlier.

Notice how measures move together. Higher revenue with weaker operating margin raises a cost or mix question. Positive earnings with weak cash flow raises a collection, working-capital or investment question. You do not have to diagnose the cause from the app alone.

Turn one observation into a source check

Suppose a fictional company shows rising sales and falling cash generation. Write: “I want to understand why more sales did not produce more cash.” Then open its cash-flow statement and management discussion.

Look for receivables, inventory, supplier payments and capital expenditure, using comparable periods. If the report does not answer the question, keep it open. The app can help you notice the issue; the filing supplies the accounting detail.

Use the current setup as context

Every stock is a research opportunity. Active setups are the subset whose current structure qualifies under Helmbeam's framework. A current state does not answer every question about the business or determine whether it fits your circumstances.

Do not substitute a historical window for the live company check. If you examine historical price information, retain the date and reference convention. A structural price change is not automatically an executed investment return.

Follow only if you want a return visit

Following a company can mean “I want to investigate this again,” not “I own it.” Keep your question and source links in your own notes, and identify what new information would make the next visit useful.

That might be a later earnings report or a financing disclosure. When it arrives, compare the new information with your earlier question rather than starting from the headline again. You can also decide the company does not deserve more of your attention.

3 questions
Do I need a stock in mind before opening Helmbeam?

No. You can begin with Discover. If you already have a ticker, search for the company and verify its identity before interpreting the information.

Does following a company mean I should buy it?

No. Following can support a research shortlist and a later review. It is separate from ownership or a trading decision.

What should I do if I cannot explain a number in Numbers?

Check its period and definition, then read the relevant statement and notes in the issuer's report. Keep the question unresolved if the disclosure does not answer it.
