Best stock-research apps for checking a company and following it over time
Choose a stock-research app around the task you repeat: finding candidates, reading financials, comparing arguments or returning to a company after an update.
The apps below offer different ways to do that work on a phone. We make Helmbeam. This comparison uses providers' public documentation and app listings checked on 19 September 2026, not hands-on testing of competitors' paid tiers. “Best” means a fit for the stated task; it is not a speed, reliability or investment-performance ranking.

Helmbeam for discovery and return visits
Helmbeam is a fit when you want to start with a company, examine what is changing and keep interesting names in a research list. Discover introduces candidates; the company view and Numbers support a closer look; following a company gives you a reason to revisit it.
For example, a name mentioned online can become a question about revenue, earnings or funding rather than an immediate trade. Open it, check the available company information and compare it with the source behind the original claim. The getting-started guide shows that sequence.
Helmbeam is available for iPhone and Android. Feature access depends on the plan. It is a research app, not a brokerage, and a current setup does not determine whether a stock suits your finances.
Stock Analysis for financial tables on mobile
Stock Analysis provides company financials, statistics, screening and watchlist-related tools, with native iOS and Android apps documented by the provider. It is worth considering when your recurring task is looking up a company's reported numbers and then investigating a discrepancy.
Its free access and paid Pro access differ in history, downloads and other limits. Confirm that the exact table and period you need are available on your device and tier. A mobile app's existence does not prove every desktop feature has identical mobile controls.
Simply Wall St for visual company reports
Simply Wall St combines visual reports, company analysis, ideas and portfolio features. It offers iOS and Android apps as well as a mobile-responsive website. It can suit a reader who wants an organised overview before opening detailed disclosures.
Look behind summary graphics and fair-value estimates. Check the data date, assumptions and whether the underlying figures are reported or normalised. The Simply Wall St review discusses report allowances and conflicting public screener limits that should be confirmed before subscribing.
Seeking Alpha for articles and competing interpretations
Seeking Alpha offers mobile access to company news and analysis, with paid features including research articles, ratings and other tools depending on subscription. It is useful when your question is how different analysts interpret the same company.
Keep a contributor's argument separate from the platform's Quant rating and from reported company facts. A persuasive article still needs its assumptions checked. Premium, Alpha Picks and Investing Groups are different offerings; paying for one does not mean every other subscription is included. See the Seeking Alpha review.
TradingView for charts, watchlists and alerts
TradingView's iOS and Android apps emphasise charts and market monitoring, with watchlists, alerts and company information. This is a different starting point from a guided company-research workflow.
If you need to understand a price move, charts can establish when it happened and what other instruments did. They cannot prove the cause without supporting information. Check data subscriptions, exchange coverage, alert limits and the functions available on your particular plan. Broker integration is a separate feature with its own eligibility and risks.
Try the same company in two apps
Use a company you recognise and attempt a small research task:
- Confirm the security and reporting currency.
- Find the latest reporting period and a comparable earlier one.
- Identify a change in revenue, margin or cash flow.
- Find enough source context to explain or question it.
- Save the company and return to the same question later.
Notice where you get stuck. Missing data, unclear labels and a difficult return path are more relevant to your decision than an advertised feature count. Do not assume a free download includes all paid research, and check renewal terms before starting a trial.
For longer filing reviews and models, a larger screen may still be useful. The research-website guide covers that broader workspace choice.

Frequently asked questions
Which stock-research app is best for a beginner?
Choose one that makes your first research task understandable. Try finding a reporting period, checking a financial change and returning to the company. The right fit depends on whether you need discovery, tables, visual reports, articles or charts.
Are stock-research apps also brokerages?
Not necessarily. Helmbeam is a research app. Other services may provide broker integrations or portfolio connections, but those functions should be checked separately from research features.
Does a free app download include all research features?
No. A download can be free while detailed reports, history, alerts or other features require a subscription. Confirm the plan and billing terms for the specific functions you want.

Try the Helmbeam workflow
Download Helmbeam, open a company and choose one thing to understand in Numbers. Follow it if another report could answer your question. That is a useful test of the app's fit before making it part of your routine.
Helmbeam is available as a free download on iOS and Android.
